The China-Australia Joint Symposia – funded by the Chinese and Australian Government are viewed by both the Chinese and Australian Government as a significant opportunity ‐ have set a forum not only to discuss areas of mutual interest between China and Australia but also to act as a platform to develop strategic relationship between the two countries. They have been successfully run 5 times since 2006. This China-Australia Joint Symposium will focus on the strategic topics of Energy and Biomedical Materials. Securing cheap and clean energy supply is a top priority for both governments. Australia and China have great similarities in their current energy supply and share common challenges in meeting their future energy needs. Furthermore, human health issues are also critical in both China and Australia. The application of nanotechnology and biotechnology to biomedical research becomes more and more important, which may lead to an explosion of knowledge and potential new treatments in the biomedical areas. This symposium will bring together scientists, technologists and engineers in materials science and engineering, and provide a forum for researchers of both countries to present latest research activities and foster collaborations between Australian and Chinese researchers. The aims of the joint symposium are:
Supported by the Beihang University, Monash University, Southeast University, and University of Wollongong, the China-Australia Joint Symposium on Energy and Biomedical Materials will be held at the Monash-Southeast University Joint Research Institute, Suzhou, on January 7-9, 2016. The Institute is located in the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) adjacent to Shanghai. SIP has been designed as the most important State ‘Nanotech’ Cluster in China to support the growth of nanotechnology and its enabling industries covering advanced materials, electronics, opto‐electronics, biomedicine, manufacturing and energy/environment. This multidisciplinary symposium will cover two main areas, namely
